How to Not be Mainstream
The Attitude
Of course, if you can look non-conformist, you should also have a non-conformist attitude. Being pessimistic and depressed is for wussies, as is being optimistic and excessively joyous… like a hippy. Recently being angry at everyone is becoming more and more popular, thanks in part to Maddox. It also allows you to give the impression of a super villian, maybe not quite what you are looking for. In the end, you are kind of on your own for this one, but I can give some pointers.
Deranged
Being psychotic isn’t too popular, mainly because people are afraid of not being taken seriously and getting thrown into a mental house with padded rooms. The flip side to this is that if you pull a gun on them, then they will realize that you are being completely serious, and that you are crazy enough that you just might pull the trigger.
Some advantages of being deranged:
- Nobody wants to be considered psychotic. You will be completely unique, aside from all the people who actually are crazy.
- There will be no stress in your life. Feel any stress at all? Break a bunch of stuff and blame it on your mental problems.
- Theft is acceptable. You can really pin a lot of your problems on being crazy. In fact, the jury might even acquit you on the bases of insanity.
- In the event that you do get sent to a rehabilitation center, its no big deal. Consider it three free meals a day, big screen T.V.s and more free time than you know what to do with.
Of course, insanity isn’t for everyone. If you want to lead a somewhat normal life, you may not want to feign insanity (of course, if you are following this guide, there is no hope for a normal life).
Loner
Being a loner means that, well, you are lonely most of the time. Since being lonely is a prerequisite for being a loner, not many people choose to be a loner. Like being deranged, there are some advantages to being a loner. The most obvious example is that you don’t have to deal with all the stupid people in the world. You can simply despise them for their stupidity. Being a loner also means that you are more independent in most cases. In the event that the civilization crumbles, you are just as likely as a redneck to survive.
As a loner, you don’t necessarily have to hate everybody else. Hating people is just another stupid stereotype created by society. You may choose to simply not partake in the rest of society. As with everything good though, there must be a downside. Want a girlfriend/boyfriend? You have pretty much a zero chance of getting one as a loner. If you do, then you compromise your status as a loner and you move into a different category. Exactly what that is, or what it means, I have no clue.
